03 Sep Sweet Summer Avocado Purees
If you are lucky enough to have access to big beautiful avocados this summer, then you are just like me and you have been handing them out to friends and colleagues and trying to figure out what to do with them all!
My 8 month old loves avocado, so I wanted to get a bit more creative with his food and try these super simple variations. They were such a big success I just had to share!
Avocados are a superfood, filled with those good fats for you baby’s brain and physical development, they are sodium and cholesterol free, and are packed with valuable nutrients such as fiber, potassium, vitamin E and iron.
Spoon half an avocado into your blender, add one banana and about 4-6 tablespoons of water or breastmilk/formula and mix to the right consistency.
I used the unsweetened organic apple sauce and pour about a cup into the blender with the second half of the same avocado I cut up for the first recipe. Added a bit more water/breastmilk/formula, and voila! Two big batches of two awesome purees, filled with pure goodness for your little one 🙂
Few other ideas: Add a few dollops of yogurt for a creamier texture, or just mash the ingredients with a fork instead of blending for a thicker consistency. Also, try experimenting with other combos, like mango, raspberries, butternut squash and more!
