07 Oct 20-minute Fall porch decor
A few weeks ago I posted some of my favorite ideas for Fall and Halloween decorating. Honestly, this is the first time that I have actually done a little decorating for the Fall season as I usually save up all my energy for CHRISTMAS, only 78 more days away!!!! I’m totally counting!
Fall is one of those festivities that the kids are totally involved and excited about, at least my kids anyway. Sure, they like Easter but mostly because of all the candy, which is definitely more reason why they LOVE Halloween. Lets face it, who doesn’t like to dress up! It’s the only time of the year where all bets are off and you can mix and match yourself into glitz and goblin heaven!
So, in homage to the FANTASTIC fall season and because i just like saying “It’s Fall Ya’ll” Sorry, I went to school in the South and I think the good ol’ southern drawl is AWESOME, I decided to get some fine fall inspiration from one of my FAVS, Jennifer Allwood at The Magic Brush in Kansas City, Mo. If you LOVE to decorate and paint, which I sorta kinda do, you need to check out her blog.
So here is my version of fall decor-porch style!
I found the burlap bow material at our local fabric store and just figured out how to make the simplest (like, duh) bow because I’ve never made one before. I literally just folded it, and then cut a small piece for the middle, long enough to tie onto the pumpkin stem. So easy, my 4 year old could have done it!
This was my favorite part!! I had to improvise, but it worked out. I cleaned the pumpkin with Windex (OK, maybe not the smartest idea, but it worked to get the wax stuff off) Then I took a clown nose, because they ran out of round foam brushes and dipped it in a glue similar to Mod Podge (because they ran out of that too). Then I made dots on the pumpkin and poured the glitter over it. TIP: be careful not to put oo much glue on your clown nose or brush as it will cause the glitter to run! Ah, live and learn, right?!
I found burlap designed duct tape and taped away from top to bottom. My little Helper really helped me with this one. I even got hubby to cut the extra tape at the top off. I know you probably cant see this from the pictures, but I actually glued and glittered the stem on this one!
My cutie patootie helped me with the tape and the layout on the porch. She also decided that she would ride the broom for a while too! HA!
OK, so here is the final-ish layout. I may change a few things around after I paint “FALL” on the pallet….we’ll see! Seriously, it only took 20 minutes. So here was my inspiration for my fall decor, check it out and let me know what you think! It’s 150% better than mine….so amazing…Love it!
Have you decorated for FALL too? Feel free to share in the comments below 🙂
