Dr Leon Dupuch, BSc., M.B.B.S., Dip. RCOG/RCR, MRCOG, CCT(UK) – The Doctor’s in
Dr Leon Henry Bruce Dupuch was born in Nassau Bahamas to Mr and Mrs Pierre Dupuch and is the Grandson of the late Sir Etienne and Lady Marie Dupuch. He is married to Dr Laura Dupuch and has four young boys Xavier, Oliver, Theo and Dominic. Dr Dupuch attended high school at St Augustines College in Nassau after which he continued his education at St. John’s University in Minnesota, USA, where he studied Pre-Med and received a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc.). Dr Dupuch then went to Medical School at the University of the West Indies where he attained the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.,B.S.) degree. After completing his internship in Nassau, he went to England to specialize and became a qualified Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before returning to the Bahamas as a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) with the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). He is presently a Consultant at Princess Margaret Hospital, the Director of Maternal and Child Health, a member of the Bahamian Medical Council and a member of the Medical Association of the Bahamas. He is also an Accredited Member of the Fetal Medicine Foundation.
Dr Dupuch enjoys the outdoors where most of his spare time is spent on the sea boating and fishing with his family.
Among his many other postgraduate qualifications and Specialist interests he holds The Diploma of Family Planning, is a certified colposcopist and has the RCOG/RCR Diploma in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound. Dr Dupuch holds qualifications from the RCOG/BSGE in Minimal Access Surgery and advanced Hysteroscopic surgery.
Dr Dupuch published the first Bahamas Confidential Enquiry into Stillbirths and Deaths in First Week Neonates (BaCESDIN), he has been instrumental in starting the PROMPT (Practical Obstetric Multidisiplinary Practical training) programme in the Bahamas. He is also an associate lecturer at the University of the West Indies.
