A few of the BEST children's books When I was a child, I had a several favorite books, and now well into my 30's, and with my own children, I still remember those books.  If you are a lover of books, an avid, and enthusiastic reader, I'm sure you'll agree that reading is the gateway to imagination.  Books paint a vivid picture in our minds of every detail and word that is written on their pages.  The beauty and imagery that plays itself out in the reader's mind, is different for everyone.  The way the characters look, their facial expressions, and movements are unique in our minds.  We all get to be directors in the scripts that lay out on the pages of magnificent books. Children get so much from reading.  It jump starts their imaginations, and fuels their life-long desire for learning; they develop their language, and like adults, allows their...

5 Pregnancy Books to Read There are lots of self help books in the market, on all sorts of topics!  Pregnancy advice books are common items on the newly pregnant "wish list."  With so many choices, its difficult to find the ones you really need, and it's enough to make any woman feel a little overwhelmed. Here are a few of the bestselling ones that I selected when I was pregnant: What to Expect When Expecting - Heidi Murkoff  This book is the bible of all pregnancy books.  It's the first book I think most women buy.  It's a very detailed book with lots of information for every stage, situation, and side effect.  The down side is that it has more information than you sometimes need to hear.  Always check with your doctor if you have any questions. The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding- Diane Wiessinger  This is a great book to read and refer to...

10 things I want to say to a new mom Pregnancy is a beautiful moment in a woman's life.  Your body changes so much, and you realize, probably for the first time, what a miracle worker you really are by creating life.  Life for the first time mom has many firsts and unknowns, everyone is a first time mom at some point.  Lots of beautiful and not so beautiful adjustments to be made. Here are a few things I want to say to a new mom: You can read all of the parenting books you want to, and still feel like you're doing something wrong.  Reading is a great thing, and preparing yourself as much as possible is pretty smart, but there are some things you just can't learn from books.  Experience is the best teacher in life!  In fact, reading too many things may make you feel overwhelmed by all of the information,...

Fairy Princess Party Theme Decor- DIY Last year for my daughter's 4th birthday, she wanted a Mermaid Princess themed birthday party.  We made her a perfect little Mermaid Princess costume and she had so much fun with her friends.  This year, although she is still obsessed with Mermaids, she wanted a Fairy Princess Party.  She's not that cookie cutter type of girl, and she was a little peeved that all the things we found for Fairy Princesses were centered around Tinkerbell.  She likes Tinkerbell, but obviously she had more in mind for her Fairy party. So we went to the drawing board and decided that a true fairy party would be filled with flowers, butterflies, fairy wings and pixie dust.  We invited 15 of her school girl friends and asked that they bring their favorite Princess costume, a pair of fairy wings, and all the pixie dust they could find.  This party...

4 ways to promote happiness in your life Sometimes its hard to see life through the eyes of "the glass half full" mantra.  Honestly, I think most of us do try to live our lives everyday with that attitude.  Sometimes we accomplish that, and sometimes we don't.  But the good thing about having a bad day, is that most of us make up our mind to not stay in that mind-frame for any great amount of time. I think it's important to recognize when we start feeling sad or defeated in life, but I also think it's very normal to have those "blah" moments.   Everyone has those moments.  Isn't that what makes us human?  The ability to recognize when something feels amok, have your moment, and then gather yourself and change your way of looking at a situation is a wonderful thing.  I think when we give ourselves time to reflect and...
