Living. Loving. Parenting: Hang out with us every Monday & Thursday

As a nature lover, practicing yogi, and what some may call a tree-hugging-hippy, I’ve been thinking of Earth Day activities to honor and show my love for this sacred planet. As most of us know, there are Earth Day celebrations all over the world, and there are so many steps we can take to make a difference; like planting a tree, growing a veggie patch, cleaning up some rubbish off your local beach or park, using cloth bags at the grocery store, not buying bottled water, hanging our clothes on the line and forgoing the dryer, taking shorter or even cold showers, turning off the lights and appliances when not in use, and of course reuse and recycling bottles, jars, plastic containers and cardboard as much as possible. The world we live in, such a beautiful place, full of life.  Earth Day this year, was celebrated for me at my kids school.  My daughter's class was hosting the weekly elementary class assembly and were  asked to present all that they are learning about the different types of weather. I have to admit, Carina is not as outgoing as my first born,  she is a bit timid and shy when it comes to public performances. For this performance, the kids were asked to pick a type of weather and say something about it.  They were also asked to sing "Earth Day" themed songs.  Carina chose to talk about windy weather.  She decided that she wanted to talk about her kite and how she flies it when it's windy.  So before the "big day" we made her kite.  Red, blue, yellow and green with a long triangle tail and pompoms. Here's what I discovered....
