Living. Loving. Parenting: Hang out with us every Monday & Thursday

Life is so unpredictable.  One minute everything is going great, and the next minute, things change.  I suppose that's why they say "life is a journey;" mountains and valleys, hills and peaks, ups and downs are a part of life.  We all have really great times and beautiful moments, and we all have not so great ones.  What's comforting about life's challenges is that everyone goes through them and we have the ability to support and uplift each other. Like some of you, I'm sort of a quote "junkie."   It's my biggest board on Pinterest and I love reading new ones that are important to where I'm at in my life now.  I use the quotes I find on Pinterest as a source of strength, motivation and inspiration.  Here are a few (yeah right, O.K, a lot!) of my favorite quotes over the years.   source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source source...

Everyone knows that pregnant women can be a bit touchy.  But in their defense, they do have a very good reason why, it's called, pregnancy hormones.  For some, those pesky hormones make you feel like a 15 year old adolescent-up and down just like a roller coaster.  Nevertheless, there are some things you should think about before saying to a pregnant woman.  Here are the top things you should never say or do to a pregnant woman.   Never make comments about how big she looks. Things like "are you having twins?" and "I can't believe there's only one in there," are not what she wants to hear at that moment.  Chances are, she's probably already thinking about how she looks, and may not be as comfortable as she should be in her new body.   Don't assume you can just rub her belly. I'm going to be totally honest with you; most women...

So, my baby is turning 6 months old on June 18th, and I am totally stressing out over his biggest milestone yet, SOLIDS! He has been exclusively breastfed since day one, and I can’t even believe we are already here. I’m not only stressing out about what all I need to buy: bowls, bibs, sippy cups, spoons, storage containers, etc. but also: 1. When does he start drinking water and how much of it? 2. What consistency should the food be when I am making it? 3. How much should he eat? 4. Should we start with rice cereal? 5. The list goes on and on! I am a huge reader, so I figured I can’t be the only first-time-mom out there who needs support on this subject. It’s a big deal. I also want to make my own baby food, so there’s quite a lot involved. I always thought I would start Vincent on infant rice cereal mixed with...

For most women, going back to work is bittersweet. On one hand, you get to have healthy, adult conversation, but on the other hand, finding a good solution to child care can be daunting. Some women have access to a house keeper or in-home caretaker that gets to focus on just your little one, but other women send their children to daycare. Making the decision on which option is best for you and your family is the key to peace of mind when going back into the workplace. If you are a breastfeeding mother, you do not have to stop breastfeeding before going back to work, unless, you have met your breastfeeding goal, and want to stop nursing. It is definitely a personal choice. The AAP, (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends six months exclusive breastfeeding, but in reality, for some women, it is not that easy to accomplish. If you do...

What is the ONE magic thing that EVERY Mother NEEDS?!?!? And, no, It is not necessarily coffee or wine! It is simple, good, quality M.E. time! Yes, we all need a little (or at times, a lot) of ME(eeee) time! The best thing about M.E. time is that you can chose to do whatever suits you best at any particular time!  Whether it is something as extravagant as a three week-long trip to East Asia (which a very good friend of mine just came back from…and which I am secretly jealous of but so very happy for her at the same time), a three day get away (which another very good friend of mine just came back from and which I am also jealous of but so very happy for her at the same time), a spa day, a quick manicure and pedicure, facial, massage, breakfast, coffee, gym session, etcetera, etcetera…the list just goes...
