Living. Loving. Parenting: Hang out with us every Monday & Thursday

When I was about six months pregnant I told my mom I was buying a used diaper bag. My mom, who is usually very frugal, was appalled. "Choosing my diaper bag was one of my favorite parts of being pregnant! It's going to be your purse for a couple of years. Pick one you love!" She urged me. To my husband's dismay, I listened to her and ended up with a designer Coach diaper bag :). It turns out my mom was right. I love my diaper bag and whenever my husband complains that it's too heavy and "do we have to take it with us THIS time?" I retort that it's my purse! Where I go, it goes! At six months pregnant I also could not imagine what I would need such a large bag for. What could I possibly need to take with me to take care of one little baby?! A...

The alarm goes off at 5 am, by the time I've pushed the snooze button 3 times, it's almost 5:30.  I roll out of bed wishing I wasn't counting down the clock since 4 am, going over and over in my mind what I am supposed to do when I wake up. "Don't forget, don't forget," echoes in my mind and then I take note of the clock again- 4.20.  "In less than an hour, the alarm clock is going to go off, please go to sleep," I tell myself.   By the time I stop remembering to look at the clock, it 4:45. I make my way on the couch with my phone and laptop.  I put on the water heater and grab a blanket.  I don't know why I have to grab a blanket in the middle of summer, but somehow, it makes me feel more comfortable so that I can...

As your baby transitions from baby to toddler, be prepared for lots of tumbles, bumps and bruises.  It's a part of a baby exploring their environment and the world around them.  They are in essence, fearless explorers.  This is a very busy period for most parents.  Gone are the days where you can sit and watch your baby happily playing on a blanket with a few toys or eating cheerios, amusing themselves while you scurry to cook dinner.  They have now discovered movement and motion and make it their mission to become mobile as fast as possible.  Although it is beautiful to watch your child learn and experience life through their innocent eyes and inquisitive minds, you must be aware of the potential hazards our world provides them, as a result, baby proofing your home is essential to keeping your baby as safe as possible. Invest in electrical wall plugs.  These...

Along my travels of the city streets and parks of London, every now and again you come across signs, sayings, and "cheeky" comments.  Yes, I had to throw that British term in there.  In fact, teaching my kids some typically British jargon has been quite funny.  Here's what we've learned so far...

Summer time is a good time to fit in as much kiddie time as possible. Although, 3 months vacation seems a bit too much, in my opinion. Can't deal with days on end of "I'm bored mommy".  I mean how many summer programs can you do, and when you do them, they're still bored!!  It's a vicious cycle! And as much as I hate it, I must admit, they have their iPads way too much. This summer, unlike others, we decided to take the kids to Europe for a couple weeks.  They have never been and honestly, I can't remember the last time we had a real family vacation where we actually left the Bahamas. I know, why leave Paradise, right?  Sometimes you just have to trade sun, sea and sand for a good pub crawl, double-decker buses and theme parks-London-style. The kids were actually really good on such a long journey,...
