5 sweet Easter treats

I love the Easter holidays; so many fun activities to do with the kids and for sure the kiddies love that they get lots of sweet treats and candies from the Easter bunny.  This year I decided to ask the kids to help me pick out a few recipes and crafts that they wanted to help with for Easter.  For the cooking activities, all of their choices were sweet…shocking!  We’re obviously not going to make all of them, but I wanted to share with you guys a few that sparked their interest in case you needed any last minute Easter treat recipe ideas.

Try any of these:

You can’t go wrong with rice krispy anything, ever!  I always make pastel colored rice krispy treats, but this year the kids wanted me to take it up a notch, or two…Ha!

Don’t they look like little birdie nests? The eggs are chocolate with a candy shell, they’re called Robin eggs.  The recipe also says you can use chocolate mm’s if you can’t find them.  If you don’t feel like making the butter cream icing, spoon on some cool whip or marshmallow fluff instead.

This has got to be the cutest and simplest Easter Cake ever!  The kids loved watching the video.  Click here for the lamb cake recipe.

I love the jelly bean nose!

Ever heard of fluff?  It’s not the prettiest thing in the world, but tastes yummy!  This recipe takes 3-minutes to make.  You can’t beat that!  I’ve never actually made fluff myself, but tasted it at a few parties.  I wouldn’t say that its my favorite, but the kids love it.  It’s got coconut and pineapple and is SUPER SWEET.  As a grown up option, you can add chopped nuts.

This Chex Mix is called, “Bunny Chow.”  It takes 3-minutes to make this, just toss everything in and you have a snack perfect for the munchies.  Try putting this in glass containers around the house for people to grab or even add it to party bags.

Finally, a sweet treat I picked!  Who doesn’t love Carrot Cake? Sweet cream cheese icing, and cinnamon all rolled into a delightful roll.  This is my kind of treat! What’s your favorite sweet treat?

It seems kind of pointless to worry about things like food coloring when I’ve just mentioned five of the sweetest, sugar-filled Easter treats ever, but I feel like I have to offer something that I can feel good about.  Instead of using food coloring, try a more natural route using food based dyes.

I did this method last year and it worked great.  The only complaint I had was that some colors didn’t come out as bright as I wanted, but hey, who cares about that!

Great ideas, and not too time-consuming. Thanks for sharing.
